Job summary

Trane Technologies is seeking a Lead Product Design Engineer to join the Trane Commercial Systems team. You will drive HVAC system design, lead DFMEA, and ensure compliance with UL, CRN, ASME, and seismic standards. Collaboration with Test Lab, Manufacturing, and Product Management is essential.

The role requires strong cross-functional leadership, extensive CAD/FEA experience, and a deep understanding of chilled and hot water heating systems. Travel is minimal, with a hybrid work arrangement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 8+ years of engineering or product design experience.
• Professional Engineering license may be beneficial but is not essential.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration and ability to lead design elements.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of HVAC refrigeration systems to meet performance, regulatory, quality, and cost targets.
• Evaluate technical feasibility and drive robust, cost-effective component selection with clear specs.
• Set technical strategy for compliance with codes like UL, CRN, Seismic, and ASME BPVC.
• Create and maintain engineering documentation and test results to reflect design intent.
• Lead DFMEA and implement risk mitigation to prevent quality escapes.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance across teams.
