Job summary

Reflection AI Ltd is seeking a Data Product counsel to lead legal support for data acquisition and model development, translating US and international laws into actionable product roadmaps and ensuring responsible AI data practices.

You will advise on regulatory, intellectual property, privacy, licensing, and AI governance while partnering with product, research, engineering and safety teams to shape policy and compliance.

Qualifications

• J.D. and active bar membership (or in-house registration) in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• Strong experience in product counselling and advising on legal risks in technology sectors (AI, cloud, data, etc.).
• Excellent cross-functional communication skills to explain complex legal requirements to engineers and executives.
• Experience advising on U.S. and international legal, regulatory, and data usage matters for AI products.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-evolving regulatory landscape and provide proactive guidance.
• Bonus for experience with open source access technology or agentic/search capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Act as Reflection’s primary legal contact for pre-training and data teams, advising on data acquisition and use for AI training.
• Advise on agentic and search-based product proposals from a legal/regulatory perspective.
• Provide focused advice on IP, privacy, licensing, and AI regulation risks.
• Design data integrity standards and processes to manage data use and provenance requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement data controls for responsible model releases.
• Monitor regulatory developments and translate them into practical guidance for leadership.
