Minimum qualifications:

  • Willing to be flexible and work mornings, afternoons, evenings, nights as work demands. Willing and available to work weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Understanding of all key components of department operations (managing people, merchandising, computer-assisted ordering, inventory management, shrink control, customer service, labor scheduling, expense control, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of produce and preparation, and general store operations.
  • Effective communication skills with employees, customers, and supervision; alertness to changing priorities and demands; ability to react quickly.
  • Ability to make decisions quickly and effectively.
  • Calmly handle stressful situations and make positive impressions on associates and customers.
  • Effective production, merchandising, and customer service skills related to the sale of merchandise.

Desired qualifications:

  • Produce work or similar experience in food preparation.
  • Dependability and integrity reflected in past work records.
  • Develop maximum customer relations through personal example of friendliness and courtesy, and implementation of all company policies.
  • Assist in store security and handle customer complaints tactfully.
  • Participate in hiring, firing, disciplining, transferring, and evaluating produce department personnel.
  • Properly indoctrinate all department employees, ensuring they can read scales and prices correctly.
  • Provide training on price marking, emphasizing customer courtesy and productivity.
  • Supervise salad bar operations.
  • Discuss and plan efficient work schedules with the store manager.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and proper uniform for departmental staff.
  • Maintain good communication with all store personnel.
  • Plan, organize, direct, and control produce department activities; may take charge in the store manager's absence.
  • Manage receiving, storing, pricing, and merchandising of produce.
  • Ensure adequate stock and supplies through proper ordering.
  • Maintain and submit records and reports; use them effectively.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in all areas, including cases, floors, coolers, and preparation areas.
  • Keep supplies on hand, such as bags, pricing, and marking equipment.
  • Continuously analyze and improve department aspects like space, design, display, and inventory.
  • Promote and implement company initiatives and process improvements positively.
  • Be prompt, tactful, courteous, and professional in all interactions.
  • Manage people and organize workloads effectively.
  • Perform all duties assigned by the store manager or supervisor.
  • Work cooperatively in high-paced, sometimes stressful environments.
  • Manage conflicts reasonably and cooperatively.
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve issues.
  • Support interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  • Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
