Job Description

Implement all company and division policies to achieve maximum sales and profits in the produce departments. Demonstrate the company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

Responsibilities

  1. Develop maximum customer relations by produce department personnel through personal example of friendliness and courtesy, and implementation of all company policies.
  2. Be alert and assist in store security.
  3. Handle customer complaints effectively.
  4. Make recommendations regarding hiring, firing, disciplining, demoting, transferring, and evaluating all produce department personnel.
  5. Proper indoctrination of all department employees, ensuring they can read scales and prices correctly.
  6. Provide knowledge and training on price marking, emphasizing customer courtesy and productivity.
  7. Supervise all aspects of salad bar operations.
  8. Discuss with store manager the most efficient schedules for both full and part-time employees.
  9. Maintain a clean and professional appearance of departmental staff, properly uniformed and identified.
  10. Maintain good communication with all store personnel.
  11. Plan, organize, direct, and control produce department activities; may take charge of store operations in the absence of the store manager.
  12. Manage receiving, storing, pricing, and merchandising of produce products.
  13. Ensure adequate stock and supplies through proper ordering.
  14. Maintain and submit records and reports effectively.
  15. Ensure effective house cleaning, including case defrosting, floor cleaning, and waste disposal.
  16. Keep supplies on hand, such as bags and pricing equipment.
  17. Continuously analyze and improve all aspects of the produce department.
  18. Promote and communicate company initiatives positively.
  19. Be prompt, tactful, courteous, and professional.
  20. Manage people and organize workloads effectively.
  21. Perform all duties assigned by the store manager or supervisor.
  22. Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
  23. Manage conflict reasonably and cooperatively.
  24. Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  25. Follow directions and seek assistance when needed.
  26. Support interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  27. Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications

Minimum

  • Willing to work mornings, afternoons, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Understanding of key department operations including managing people, merchandising, inventory, and customer service.
  • Knowledge of produce and store operations.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to react quickly to changing priorities.
  • Ability to make quick, informed decisions.
  • Calmly handle stressful situations and make positive impressions.
  • Skills in production, merchandising, and customer service related to sales.

Desired

  • Experience in food preparation.
  • Dependability and integrity in work history.
