Minimum requirements:

  • Willing to be flexible and work mornings, afternoons, evenings, nights as the work demands. Willing and available to work weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Understanding of all key components of department operations (managing people, merchandising, computer-assisted ordering, inventory management, shrink control, customer service, labor scheduling, expense control, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of produce and preparation, and general knowledge of store operations.
  • Effective communication skills with employees, customers, and supervision. Ability to react quickly to changing priorities and demands.
  • Ability to make quick, informed decisions.
  • Calm and tactful handling of stressful situations, creating positive impressions on associates and customers.
  • Skills in production, merchandising, and customer service related to sale of merchandise.

Desired qualifications:

  • Experience in food preparation or similar roles.
  • Dependability and integrity demonstrated in past work records.
  • Developing maximum customer relations through friendliness, courtesy, and policy implementation.
  • Assisting in store security and handling customer complaints.
  • Participating in hiring, firing, disciplining, transferring, and evaluating personnel.
  • Proper training in reading scales and prices, emphasizing customer courtesy and productivity.
  • Supervising salad bar operations.
  • Discussing efficient scheduling with the store manager.
  • Maintaining a clean, neat appearance for department staff, properly uniformed and identified.
  • Maintaining good communication with store personnel.
  • Planning, organizing, directing, and controlling produce department activities, potentially in the store manager's absence.
  • Managing receiving, storing, pricing, and merchandising of produce.
  • Ensuring adequate stock through proper ordering and inventory management.
  • Maintaining and submitting records and reports effectively.
  • Ensuring cleanliness and sanitation in all areas.
  • Keeping supplies on hand: bags, pricing, and equipment.
  • Analyzing and recommending improvements in space allocation, display, pricing, rotation, inventories, and personnel.
  • Promoting and communicating company initiatives positively.
  • Being prompt, tactful, professional, and organized.
  • Managing conflict constructively and acting with honesty and integrity.
  • Following directions and seeking assistance when needed.
  • Supporting interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  • Performing all duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
