Job summary

New Leaf Community Markets, Inc. is seeking a Produce Assistant Manager to partner with the Produce Manager in leading the department.

This role involves staff oversight, merchandising, food safety, and budgeting responsibilities to ensure exceptional customer experience and department performance. The position requires supervisory experience, strong customer service, and proficiency with MS Office and POS/inventory software.

Qualifications

• Previous customer service, food service, retail, or grocery experience is required.
• Previous produce experience in a retail, farm, or distribution environment is preferred.
• Previous supervisory or management experience is required.
• Entry- to mid-level proficiency with MS Office; working knowledge of POS, inventory, or other retail software is preferred.
• Skills to manage financial results, including labor, sales, and profit margin.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the department manager to oversee all department areas and tasks.
• Ensure department conditions are stocked, rotated, and presented per standards.
• Maintain in-stock conditions and manage inventory levels to support sales and margins.
• Coach staff, schedule tasks, and develop personnel in line with company values.
• Plan weekly ads, events, and promotions with the manager; build displays and arrange products.
