Job summary

State of West Virginia is seeking a Purchasing Clerk for Chick Buckbee Juvenile Center. Under general supervision, you will manage purchasing requests, verify availability, secure bids and coordinate vendor shipping, receiving goods and ensuring timely payments.

The role requires adherence to DCR purchasing guidelines and state financial regulations. You may monitor inventory and fixed assets and act as backup for other Business Office duties as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or the equivalent.
• Four (4) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid clerical experience including purchasing supplies and maintaining inventory.
• Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university may substitute for the required experience.

Responsibilities

• Purchases goods and services and reviews purchasing requests.
• Determines availability and coordinates delivery of goods and services.
• Secures bids and serves as primary contact for vendors and shipping.
• Resolves issues, maintains records, reconciles P-cards, and ensures bills are paid in a timely manner.
• Prepares purchasing documents in WV Oasis financial application.
• Monitors inventory and fixed assets where applicable.
• Backup for other duties within the Business Office pay grade as needed.
