Job summary

State of West Virginia is seeking a Purchasing Clerk for Chick Buckbee Juvenile Center. Under general supervision, you will manage purchasing requests, verify availability, secure bids and coordinate vendor shipping, receiving goods and ensuring timely payments.

The role requires adherence to DCR purchasing guidelines and state financial regulations. You may monitor inventory and fixed assets and act as backup for other Business Office duties as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or the equivalent.
• Four (4) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid clerical experience including purchasing supplies and maintaining inventory.
• Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university may substitute for the required experience.

Responsibilities

Job description

Under general supervision, the incumbent completes all purchasing for Chick Buckbee Juvenile Center. This includes reviewing purchasing requests, determining availability, securing bids, serving as the primary contact for vendors and shipping, resolving issues, maintaining records, reconciling P-cards, receiving goods and ensuring bills are paid in a timely manner. Prepares a variety of purchasing documents in WV Oasis financial application. Coordinates delivery of goods and services. The incumbent must adhere to all regulatory DCR purchasing guidelines and State financial regulations. Work will include the purchasing of goods or services. Monitoring inventory and/or fixed assets. This position may also serve as backup for other duties within this pay grade in the Business Office. Performs related work as required.

$5000 will be added to the minimum starting rate of pay for all classifications within a Critical Vacancy Pay Supplemental Facility. Critical Vacancy Pay Facilities: Huttonsville Correctional Center and Jail, Mount Olive Correctional Complex and Jail, Western Regional Jail and Corrections Facility, Northern Correctionary Facility (including Ohio County Correctional Center), Northern Regional Jail and Correctional Facility, Chick Buckbee Juvenile Center, Vicki Douglas Juvenile Center, Potomac Highlands Regional Jail and Correctional Facility, and Eastern Regional Jail and Corrections Facility (including Martinsburg Correctional Center) (SPB 3088)

Employees in this classification shall receive an annual base building pay differential each fiscal year of S250 after completing one year of service.

If an employee is hired into a Critical Vacancy Pay Facility (CVPF) and leaves the facility, the additional pay differential of $5,000 shall be removed from their salary, unless transferring to another CVPF.

Training:

Experience:

Four (4) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid clerical experience which included purchasing supplies and maintaining inventory.

Substitution:

Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university may substitute for the required experience.
