Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is seeking a Process Engineering Technician I to join the Process Engineering team in Manufacturing Operations in West Lafayette, Indiana. The role involves assisting to improve yield, efficiency, and capacity of manufacturing equipment and processes, documenting procedures, and training operators.

The candidate should have a two-year technical degree or equivalent experience, familiarity with manufacturing equipment, and basic Windows software skills.

Job description

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is looking for someone to join our Process Engineering team in Manufacturing Operations as a Process Engineering Technician I in West Lafayette, Indiana. If you are looking to grow your career and are motivated by solving meaningful problems, Must be willing and able to travel during the first 4-6 months of employment for training, totaling approximately 8-12 weeks in two-week increments.

Typical Responsibilities
  • Assisting in measuring and improving yield, efficiency, and capacity of manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Documenting, modifying, and maintaining manufacturing related procedures.
  • Managing the procurement of assembly process tools.
  • Training operators and support staff as needed.
  • Learning and applying SEL Values, Principles of Operation, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.
Job Fit
  • You have a two-year technical degree or equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with the manufacturing equipment relevant to the role
  • You have basic computer skills including familiarity with windows-based programs such as Microsoft productivity tools (e.g., Excel, Word, SQL)
  • You have strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
  • You can learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
  • You can work cooperatively in a team environment.
  • It is a plus if you have: Experience troubleshooting process and machinery problems.
  • Experience writing and/or conducting Design of Experiments.
  • Experience programming and maintaining automated manufacturing equipment and machinery.
  • Experience preparing materials cross-sections for microscopic analysis.
  • Working knowledge of basic analog and digital electronics.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $35.38 – $51.10 per hour (plus $5.00/hr 2nd shift differential)

Process Engineering Technician I: $35.38 – $51.10 per hour

Process Engineering Technician II: $38.33 – $55.44 per hour

Process Engineering Technician III: $43.00 – $62.35 per hour
