Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is seeking a Process Engineering Technician I to join our Pullman, WA manufacturing team. The role provides technical support to production, clarifies process specs, and helps ensure accurate, efficient manufacturing on a 3rd shift (Mon-Thurs, 9pm–7:30am).

Responsibilities include measuring yield and capacity, documenting procedures, procuring tools, and training operators.

Qualifications

  • Two-year technical degree or equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with the manufacturing equipment relevant to the role.
  • Basic computer skills including Windows programs such as Excel, Word, SQL.
  • Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
  • Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
  • Team-oriented and able to work cooperatively.

Job description

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is looking for someone to join our Manufacturing team as a Process Engineering Technician I in Pullman, WA. If you are looking to grow your career and are motivated by solving meaningful problems, we encourage you to apply.

As a Process Engineering Technician I, you’ll provide immediate technical support to manufacturing and clarify production process specification requirements to ensure accurate and efficient production.

SHIFT: 3rd shift, 4x10 (Mon-Thurs, 9pm to 7:30am)

Typical day
  • Assisting in measuring and improving yield, efficiency, and capacity of manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Documenting, modifying, and maintaining manufacturing related procedures.
  • Managing the procurement of assembly process tools.
  • Training operators and support staff as needed.
  • Learning and applying SEL Values, Principles of Operation, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.
This job might be for you if:
  • You have a two-year technical degree or equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with the manufacturing equipment relevant to the role.
  • You have basic computer skills including familiarity with windows-based programs such as Microsoft productivity tools (e.g., Excel, Word, SQL).
  • You have strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
  • You can learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
  • You can work cooperatively in a team environment.
It is a plus if you have:
  • Experience troubleshooting process and machinery problems.
  • Experience writing and/or conducting Design of Experiments.
  • Experience programming and maintaining automated manufacturing equipment and machinery.
  • Experience preparing materials cross-sections for microscopic analysis.
  • Working knowledge of basic analog and digital electronics.
Physical Requirements

Pay Range

Pay Range: $35.38 - $51.10 per hour (plus 3rd shift differential: $10.00/hr)

We set starting pay based on job-related factors such as your experience, training, knowledge, and skills. We are looking to fill this position at a level 1, and we welcome applicants with a range of experience. Depending on your background, we may consider you for a different level, with compensation aligned accordingly. Level I: $35.38 - $51.10 per hour Level II: $38.33 - $55.44 per hour
