Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is seeking a Process Engineering Technician I to join our Manufacturing Operations team in West Lafayette, Indiana. The role provides technical support to manufacturing and clarifies production process specifications to ensure accurate and efficient production.

The position requires travel during the first 4-6 months for training (roughly 8-12 weeks in two-week increments).

Qualifications

• Two-year technical degree or equivalent experience.

• Basic computer skills including familiarity with Windows-based programs (Excel, Word, SQL).

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is looking for someone to join our Process Engineering team in Manufacturing Operations as a Process Engineering Technician I in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Must be willing and able to travel during the first 4-6 months of employment for training, totaling approximately 8-12 weeks in two-week increments.

As a Process Engineering Technician I, you'll provide immediate technical support to manufacturing and clarify production process specification requirements to ensure accurate and efficient production.

A typical day as a Process Engineering Technician I might include:

• Assisting in measuring and improving yield, efficiency, and capacity of manufacturing equipment and processes.
• Documenting, modifying, and maintaining manufacturing related procedures.
• Managing the procurement of assembly process tools.
• Training operators and support staff as needed.
• Learning and applying SEL Values, Principles of Operation, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.

Qualifications

• You have a two-year technical degree or equivalent experience.
• Familiarity with the manufacturing equipment relevant to the role.
• You have basic computer skills including familiarity with windows-based programs such as Microsoft productivity tools (e.g., Excel, Word, SQL).
• You have strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
• You can learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
• You can work cooperatively in a team environment.

Preferred Experience

• Experience troubleshooting process and machinery problems.
• Experience writing and/or conducting Design of Experiments.
• Experience programming and maintaining automated manufacturing equipment and machinery.
• Experience preparing materials cross-sections for microscopic analysis.
• Working knowledge of basic analog and digital electronics.

Pay Range: $35.38 - $51.10 per hour

Process Engineering Technician I: $35.38 - $51.10 per hour

Process Engineering Technician II: $38.33 - $55.44 per hour

Process Engineering Technician III: $43.00 - $62.35 per hour
