Job summary

Lilly seeks a Chemical Engineer to lead unit operation development and process optimization for synthetic drug candidates at the Indianapolis, Indiana site. You will help drive scale-up, crystallization design, and manufacturing technology development to support clinical trials and commercialization.

Collaborating with process chemists, analytical chemists, formulation scientists, and engineers, you will apply fundamental engineering to enhance safety, quality, and productivity throughout

Qualifications

• Degree in chemical engineering or closely related field.
• Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
• Strong hands-on experience in a laboratory environment and in synthetic organic chemistry.
• Solid grounding in crystallization, heat and mass transfer, and separation processes.

Responsibilities

• Generate process design and unit operation knowledge based on engineering principles for small molecules and other modalities.
• Ensure successful scale-up of processes through fundamental engineering principles and equipment knowledge.
• Design and execute laboratory experiments, including reactors, for crystallization process design and optimization.
• Develop drug substance processes and manufacturing technologies focused on crystallization and physical properties.
• Leverage PAT, continuous processing, and modeling to improve crystallization processes.
• Apply engineering and business principles to design and characterize synthetic processes and to document results.
• Transfer process knowledge to internal and external sites and provide technical oversight to partners.
• Publish and share original research via peer-reviewed outlets and conferences.
