Job summary

Eli Lilly and Company in Indianapolis, IN, is seeking an experienced leader to direct unit operation development and process optimization for synthetic drug candidates, enabling clinical trials and commercialization. You will guide teams of chemists, engineers, and formulation scientists across modern manufacturing technologies, including continuous processing and PAT.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in chemical engineering or closely related field with 8+ years of experience; or MS with 15+ years of experience.
• Experience developing chemical processes from proof of concept to product commercialization.
• Experience with technical transfer of processes into manufacturing operations.
• Experience within the pharmaceutical sector is desired; other relevant experience may meet expectations.

Responsibilities

• Lead unit operation development and process optimization for synthetic drug candidates to support clinical trials, regulatory submission, and product commercialization.
• Supervise design and development of new synthetic routes using modern technologies including continuous processing, automated reaction screening, PAT, and modeling/simulation.
• Collaborate with internal and external manufacturing partners to develop robust chemical processes for drug substance manufacturing.
• Provide technical guidance in scale-up and technology transfer activities; participate in CRO/CMO collaborations and Lilly manufacturing.
