Job summary

G&W Electric is seeking a Process Engineer II in Bolingbrook, IL to sustain and improve manufacturing processes, with a focus on epoxy molding, quality metrics, and cost reduction. You will apply DOE and statistical methods in a fast-paced environment to drive continuous improvement.

You will lead problem-solving activities, develop robust processing methods, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance molding technology while mentoring junior engineers and ensuring safety and quality

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical/Mechanical Engineering, Plastics/Polymer Processing, or Materials with 3–5+ years in materials processing.
• Strong experience with DOE and A/B testing.
• Experience with polymer rheology and test methods (DSC, TGA, DMA).
• Experience with failure analysis using standard techniques.
• Proficiency with data analysis software.

Responsibilities

• Lead sustainment/improvement activities for Process Engineering, including COQ problem solving.
• Develop sustainable processing methods and reliable mistake-proofing within dedicated workcells.
• Oversee R&D of new manufacturing equipment, processes, SOPs and work instructions.
• Review engineering deliverables for technical accuracy and adherence to schedules.
• Support data collection systems and BI reporting (JDE/QMS/MES).
• Establish process controls and track key characteristics for monitoring.
• Develop process audits with Quality and molding departments.
• Mentor engineers and support staff to maximize potential.
• Prepare and deliver Process Engineering-related presentations.
• Understand thermoset polymers for new product development and failure analysis.
• Apply DOE, Gage R&R, A/B testing, and statistical analysis to drive improvements.
• Demonstrate basic project leadership (scope, schedule, cost, risk).
• Establish, track and manage KPIs for project success.
• Assist molding tech lab and the Molding Innovation Center.
