Job summary

Valley Health Systems, Inc. is seeking a Procedure Scheduler to coordinate insurance authorizations and scheduling for office visits, imaging studies, and hospital-based procedures.

The role works closely with clinical staff and external facilities to ensure timely access to care for patients. Qualified candidates will have strong communication skills, the ability to work under pressure, and experience in a health care setting, preferably with Epic.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
• Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
• Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
• 2+ years of experience in a health care setting preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required

Responsibilities

• Obtain insurance authorization for office, imaging, and hospital procedures
• Schedules office visits, imaging exams, and hospital-based procedures
• Maintain documentation in Epic regarding authorizations and scheduling
• Coordinate scheduling with hospitals and imaging centers; manage changes as needed
• Contact patients with appointment details and document communications in the patient chart
• Notify nurses and providers of authorization denials
• Assists intake/referral specialist with referrals as time allows and assistance is needed
• Assists patient registration and patient check out as needed
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies
