Position Summary: Coordinate and schedule appointments for surgical procedures, consultants and other cardiology testing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Be positive, helpful, friendly, supportive, sincere, and genuine to all patients, physicians, and staff.
- Be attentive and responsive to doctors’ and/or practice administrator/team leader requests in a timely manner.
- Be punctual and regular in attendance.
- Follow all office policies and procedures.
- Make decisions that reflect the best interests of Heart One Associates and providing quality patient care.
- Maintain patient confidentiality as governed by the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
- Coordinate and schedule cardiology procedures, tests, and consultations based on physician recommendations and patient preferences.
- Maintain thorough and accurate documentation in charts for all correspondence involving patient care.
- Communicate with patients to provide necessary information regarding scheduled procedures, preparation instructions, and any pre-authorization requirements.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of scheduled procedures, ensuring that all relevant information is documented in eClinicalWorks.
- Work closely with Cardiologists, APPs, and other healthcare professionals, both internal and external, to optimize scheduling efficiency and address any scheduling conflicts or concerns.
- Input all patient data and keep up to date information on all patients.
- Reschedule physician schedules as requested by practice manager/team leader.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and coverage
- Obtain necessary pre-authorizations for scheduled cardiology procedures, ensuring compliance with any relevant requirements.
- Review schedules daily for corrections or gaps and ensure changes are made.
- Check messages regularly throughout the day. Messages should be accurate and thorough for physicians to review and assess.
- Serve as a point of contact for patients, addressing their inquiries, concerns, and providing support throughout the scheduling process.
- Stay informed about relevant healthcare regulations, policies, and guidelines to ensure compliance in scheduled practices.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Dress Code: Black Scrubs and closed toe shoes
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or G.E.D
- Minimum 2- years medical practice experience preferred
- Cardiology experience preferred
- Working knowledge with computers
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Excellent organizational skills
- Knowledge of HIPAA rules & regulations.
- Knowledge of diagnostic testing and procedures, preferred.
- Excellent verbal and writing communication skills.
- Knowledge of basic mathematics.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Internet.
