Job summary

Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital is seeking a part-time Phlebotomist to join the outpatient phlebotomy team. The role requires drawing newborn, pediatric, and adult patients, with care to patient identification and specimen handling.

Hours are variable and include rotating Saturdays based on department needs. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma and 1 year of phlebotomy experience, with strong communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Knowledge of phlebotomy procedures and lab protocols.
• Basic computer skills and data entry.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Customer service skills to interface with patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Verifies positive patient identification to ensure safety.
• Performs venipuncture and collects specimens from newborns to adults.
• Labeling and proper handling of specimens for testing.
• Occasional proficiency testing and data entry in the LIS.
• Assists with inventory and maintains supplies.
