Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least one year of experience in healthcare, preferably in finance.
• Adequate keyboard skills (40 words per minute typing rate).
• Basic computer skills.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Negotiation skills including assertiveness and proactivity.
• Ability to read, write and speak English; communicate with patients and staff.
• Emotional stability, adaptability and leadership ability.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers in a professional, caring manner and determine visit purpose.
• Register patients promptly to keep wait times under control.
• Collect updated demographics and accurately code patient data.
• Explain insurance processing, deductibles and copays; discuss cash collection goals.
• Obtain signatures (e-signature) and MSP for Medicare patients as required.
• Verify insurance coverage and coordinate authorizations when needed.
• Inform patients about MyChart and encourage email enrollment.
• Assist with patient flow and communicate effectively to resolve backlogs.
