You will collect updated demographics, explain insurance terms, perform estimates, obtain signatures, and support financial assistance inquiries, all while maintaining accuracy and compassionate service.

Qualifications

• Must have high school education or equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in healthcare-related field, preferably finance.
• Adequate keyboard skills (40 wpm).
• Basic computer skills required.
• Strong organizational and communication skills, including discussing medical issues.
• Negotiation skills; assertive and proactive.
• Able to read, write and speak English; communicate with patients and staff.
• Emotional stability, resilience, adaptability to change, decisiveness, and leadership potential.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers professionally and guide them to the correct area.
• Ensure timely patient registration, typically under 15 minutes.
• Collect updated demographics and accurately code information.
• Explain insurance processing, deductibles, co-insurance, co-pays, and coverage details.
• Obtain signatures and manage Medicare MSP processes; explain MyChart benefits.
• Verify insurance coverage and initiate authorizations when needed.
• Explain Lake Charles Memorial Health System Financial Assistance program and assist with applications.
• Assist patient flow and provide directions when needed.
