Job summary

Parkland Health is seeking a PRN Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to provide total nursing care under guidance of a Registered Nurse. You will screen patients, administer treatments, educate patients and families, and assist with precepting staff in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Requirements include graduation from an accredited VN program, TX LVN license (or compact), and current BLS. Strong communication, teamwork, and adherence to nursing standards are essential.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an accredited school of vocational nursing and/or licensed by the Texas Board of Nursing as an LVN.
• Minimum of one year of experience required.
• Current LVN license or temporary LVN license from the Texas Board of Nursing; or valid Compact LVN license.
• Current BLS for Healthcare Providers certification from American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Military Training Network.

Responsibilities

• Screens and prioritizes patients, ensuring timely treatment per physician orders and policies.
• Administers treatments such as drawing blood, IV solutions, and wound care as directed.
• Educates patients and families; reinforces education initiated by the RN.
• Assists with precepting new staff and students as directed.
• Maintains patient records and discharge orders per procedures.
• Fosters positive relationships with patients, families, physicians, and staff.
• Ensures supplies are available and may assist with ordering and stocking.
• Prepares and sterilizes patient areas and instruments to maintain a safe environment.
• Assists with annual goals for the nursing area and with referrals for care.
• Coordinates patient appointments and transports as needed.
