Job summary

Parkland Health and Hospital System in Dallas seeks a Licensed Vocational Nurse for full-time night shifts (6P–6A, rotating). You will provide total nursing care under supervision of an RN, ensuring quality patient care in a busy hospital setting.

Ideal candidates hold a Texas LVN license or compact license, current BLS, and demonstrate strong communication and patient-centered care. You will participate in care coordination, documentation, and education for patients and families.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an accredited school of vocational nursing and/or licensed as LVN in Texas or hold a Compact LVN license.
• Current LVN license or temporary LVN license from Texas Board of Nursing; or Compact LVN license.
• Current, valid BLS for Healthcare Providers with one of the listed providers (AHA/ARC/Military).

Responsibilities

• Screens and prioritizes patients and ensures timely treatment per physician orders and policies.
• Assist with inpatient/clinic coordination and patient flow as directed by staff.
• Follow rules, regulations, policies, and Joint Commission standards affecting nursing.
• Educate patients and families; participate in community outreach when assigned.
• Assist with precepting new staff and students as directed.
• Complete documentation per established procedures and guidelines.
• Collaborate with team to provide patient-centered care and coordinated workflow.
• Ensure supplies are available for patient care and assist with stocking as needed.
• Maintain clean and sterile patient areas and instruments.
• Suggest improvements to work processes and assist with annual goals for the nursing area.
• Keep current with nursing developments and maintain LVN licensure; apply learning to practice.
• Set up patient appointments and referrals; assist in transporting patients as needed.
