Job summary

Parkland Health is seeking a licensed vocational nurse to provide total nursing care under RN supervision. Location: Irving Health Care Center. Schedule: Days, full-time, Monday–Friday 8 am–5 pm.

Qualifications include Texas LVN license (or compact), BLS certification, Hearing/Vision screening within 90 days, and a valid Texas Class C driver license. Strong communication and patient-centered care skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an accredited school of vocational nursing and/or licensed by the Texas Board of Nursing as a Licensed Vocational Nurse; or have a valid Compact LVN License.
• Current, valid LVN license or temporary LVN license from the Texas Board of Nursing; or a valid Compact LVN license.
• Must have current healthcare provider BLS for Healthcare Providers certification from one of: American Heart Association, American Red Cross, Military Training Network.
• Must have current Hearing and Vision Screening Certificate within 90 days of hire/placement.
• Must have a valid Texas Class C Driver License.

Responsibilities

• Screens and prioritizes patients with regard to medical problems and ensures timely treatment per physician orders.
• Assists with inpatient/clinic coordination and flow of patients and discharge activities.
• Maintains knowledge of governing nursing regulations and ensures compliance with policies and procedures.
• Identifies educational needs of patients and families and reinforces education.
• Precepts new employees and students as directed by supervisor.
• Completes written and computer documentation according to procedures and guidelines.
• Collaborates with team to provide patient-centered care and coordinate workflow.
