Job summary

Cognito LLC, a Planned Systems International (PSI) joint venture, seeks a PRN Behavioral Health Technician to support IHSC at the T. Don Hutto Detention Center in Taylor, TX.

The role involves delivering high-quality behavioral health services to detainees as part of a multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities include mental health screenings, patient education, group facilitation, and coordination of follow-up care under the direction of Behavioral Health Providers.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in behavioral science/specialty field.
• AAPT certification (level 3) within 12 months of hire.
• Current BLS or CPR/BLS certification.
• Two years of mental health clinic or residential healthcare experience.
• Pass background check and drug screen; current immunizations.
• Proficiency with HIPAA/PII regulations and EHR systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide mental health screenings and patient care management.
• Facilitate basic therapeutic and psycho-educational groups.
• Coordinate follow-up care and medical records documentation in eHR.
• Assist in developing behavioral interventions and coping skills.
• Escort detainees to appointments and observe patient behavior during activities.
• Monitor safety and compliance, and engage with a multidisciplinary team.
