Job summary

Cognito LLC, a Planned Systems International joint venture, seeks a Behavioral Health Technician to support IHSC at the T. Don Hutto Detention Center in Taylor, Texas.

The role delivers mental health screenings, patient care management, and psycho-educational groups under the supervision of a Behavioral Health Provider. As a civilian contractor, you will coordinate care, document observations in electronic health records, and participate in crisis management and safety initiatives.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in behavioral science or related field.
• American Heart Association BLS or Red Cross CPR/BLS certification.
• Two years of mental health clinic or residential healthcare experience.
• Ability to pass background check and immunizations.
• Must communicate in English (verbal and written).

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive mental health screenings and patient care management.
• Facilitate basic psycho-educational groups and provide patient education.
• Coordinate appointments and maintain electronic health records.
• Escort detainees to appointments and monitor safety.
• Document behavioral observations and progress notes.
• Support crisis management per IHSC policies.
