Job summary

Cox Automotive is seeking a Privacy Governance Senior Manager to lead privacy engineering and compliance efforts across consent management, cookie governance, and privacy libraries. The role partners with Privacy Legal, Data Strategy, Engineering, and Product to embed privacy-by-design into the development lifecycle.

The candidate will supervise privacy engineers, guide architecture, manage vendor evaluations, and drive onboarding of brands and acquisitions into a centralized privacy

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline with 8+ years of experience, or alternative combinations as outlined in the job posting.
• Experience operating within or leading a privacy compliance program.
• Working knowledge of U.S. state privacy regulations.
• Experience with consent management platforms, cookie governance, and web tracking compliance operations.
• Technical understanding of tag management, cookies/pixels, and consent signal architecture.
• Strong cross-functional communication and influencing skills with stakeholders.
• Strong program management skills in complex, matrixed organizations.
• 10%+ travel requirement.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of privacy engineers, ensuring operational excellence across CMP operations, cookie categorization, and privacy library maintenance.
• Serve as the technical SME for privacy engineering, providing guidance on architecture and solutions.
• Maintain technical depth across domains to reduce key-person risk.
• Oversee privacy tech stack including CMPs, tag management, cookie scanning, and data inventory tooling.
• Evaluate vendor capabilities and contribute to privacy tech investment decisions.
• Partner with Data Strategy and Engineering to integrate privacy technologies into systems and workflows.
• Execute and monitor privacy compliance activities across the enterprise.
• Support privacy program roadmap with risk assessments, data flow documentation, and third-party reviews.
• Monitor privacy risk and drive corrective actions to resolution.
• Develop and maintain privacy program standards and documentation.
• Lead onboarding for brands and acquisitions into centralized privacy infrastructure.
• Assess privacy posture of brands and acquisitions against enterprise standards.
• Drive technical integration of brands onto centralized consent management, opt-out, and privacy library infrastructure.
• Develop onboarding playbooks for various acquisition types and structures.
• Collaborate with Privacy Legal, Data Strategy, Engineering, and Product to advance enterprise privacy goals.
• Advise on privacy-by-design for new products and third-party integrations.
• Translate technical privacy concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
