Job summary

Pratt & Whitney, a leader in aircraft engines, seeks a Principal Structures Engineer for the Assembly Equipment Engineering Design team in Middletown, CT. You will analyze and refine assembly equipment for development and production of advanced engines, collaborating across design, project, process, and test groups.

The role requires a strong background in FEA/3D modeling, leadership capabilities, and the ability to obtain security clearance. Travel up to 10% is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM).
• 8 years of engineering experience or an Advanced Degree with 5 years of experience.
• Experience with a FEA (Finite Element Analysis) software or 3D modeling software.
• Ability to obtain government security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Structural Analysis: Perform strength analyses using classical methods and FEA tools (e.g. ANSYS Workbench).
• Reporting and Communication: Create detailed engineering reports and present reviews to customers.
• Methods Development: Contribute to internal initiatives to shorten NPI cycle time.
• Collaboration and Project Management: Work with multidisciplinary teams, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
• Leadership and Mentorship: Mentor junior and new engineers in structural engineering skills.
• Travel is up to 10%.
