Job summary

Pratt & Whitney, a RTX company, seeks an experienced Structural Engineer in Middletown, CT, to provide analysis and leadership for gas-turbine compressor components. You will apply FE methods to ensure durability and performance across design, development, validation, and service phases.

Role requires extensive structural analysis experience, strong problem solving, and U.S. citizenship. Onsite role with up to 10% travel; relocation eligibility may apply.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 8+ years of experience OR advanced degree with 5+ years of experience.
• Background in structural analysis and 8+ years, with FEM for stress/deflection, vibration, and LCF/HCF/Fracture/Kinematics analyses.
• U.S. citizenship is required to access information under this program/contract.

Responsibilities

• Provide structures analytical support for commercial programs, ensuring durability and structural integrity of HPC components.
• Support preliminary and detailed design through development, validation, certification, manufacturing and service.
• Use FE and classical methods for strength, stress/deflection, vibration, fatigue life, damage tolerance, containment, and optimization analyses.
• Cover validation testing (engine and rig) and data reduction.
• Support in-service field investigations.
• Lead multi-discipline teams to balance durability, performance, cost and weight.
• Provide leadership and guidance for less experienced engineers and outsourced tasks.
• Coordinate with others to advance technology and improve engineering processes.
• Document and present results to management and external customers.
• Travel up to 10%.
