Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to join our Defense Systems team in Manhattan Beach, CA or Roy, UT. The role focuses on advanced structural analysis and design for Sentinel program hardware.

You will work in a highly integrated team, using CATIA, ABAQUS, ANSYS and NX for modeling and verification, while collaborating with systems engineering, design, and test to deliver robust solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Science or STEM with 5 years of experience; or Master's degree with 3 years of experience; or PhD with 0 years of experience.
• Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance with investigation date within 5 years.
• US Citizenship with ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP).
• Experience running dynamic and static analysis.
• Experience in ABAQUS, ANSYS, FEMAP (w/Nastran).
• Collaborate with adjacent disciplines in a highly integrated team.
• Proficient in programming and use of MATLAB for analysis and data manipulation.
• Proficient writer and able to verbally communicate technical content.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, research, and develop structural engineering specifications involving metals, non-metallic or composite materials.
• Assess damage tolerance, durability, design allowables, and structural modeling.
• Apply dynamics, loads, stability, stress fatigue and thermal analysis.
• Use CATIA, IDEAS, ProEngineer and related software tools.
