Job summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to join the Sentinel program, located in Manhattan Beach, CA or Roy, Utah. You will develop and analyze structural specifications for metals and composites while collaborating with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.

The role requires a DoD Secret Clearance, US citizenship, and strong skills in dynamic/static analysis and MATLAB.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Science or STEM with 5 years of experience; or Master's with 3 years; or PhD with 0 years
• Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance with investigation date within 5 years
• US Citizenship with the ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP)
• Experience running dynamic and static analysis
• Experience in ABAQUS, ANSYS, FEMAP (w/Nastran)
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with adjacent disciplines in a highly integrated team environment
• Proficient in MATLAB for analysis and data manipulation
• Proficient writer and able to verbally communicate technical content

Responsibilities

• Analyzes, researches and develops structural engineering specifications involving metals, non-metallic or composite structural materials for product design or operation of product to include structures, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronics, power plant, armament, heating and ventilating, equipment and maintenance designs.
• Analyzes damage tolerance, durability, design allowables and structural modeling.
• Tools utilized may include CATIA, IDEAS, ProEngineer and a variety of software applications.
