Job summary

Rimkus Consulting Group, Inc. is seeking a highly experienced Principal Structural Engineer to join our South Florida team.

You will evaluate existing buildings and develop innovative solutions for complex structural challenges across residential, multi-family, and commercial projects. You’ll lead diverse projects focusing on damage assessment and repairs related to fire, wind, flood, and impact events, with opportunities in adaptive reuse and facility modernization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is required; Structural Engineer (SE) preferred.
• 15+ years of structural design experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; BIM experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare as-built drawings for existing structures.
• Perform structural evaluations of existing and damaged buildings.
• Develop drawings and specifications per building codes and standards.
• Research building codes for upgrades and compliance.
• Conduct field assessments including ladders, lifts, and confined spaces.
• Determine repair strategies for damaged systems and lead design for upgrades.
• Lead project teams to ensure scope, schedule, and budget.
• Provide technical input to Business Development and client meetings.
• Produce reports, bid documents, and construction documentation.
