Job summary

Rimkus in South Florida is seeking a highly experienced Principal Structural Engineer to lead evaluation of existing buildings and develop innovative repair solutions for complex projects. You will work on residential, multi-family, and commercial structures with emphasis on damage assessment from fire, wind, flood, and impact events.

You will lead project teams, manage budgets and schedules, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with clients and business development to deliver high-quality,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required; SE preferred.
• 15+ years of structural design experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; BIM a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare as-built drawings for existing structures.
• Perform structural evaluations of existing and damaged buildings.
• Develop drawings and specifications per codes and standards.
• Research historical/current building codes and upgrades.
• Conduct field assessments on ladders, lifts, rooftops, confined spaces.
• Determine repair strategies for damaged/underperforming systems.
• Lead project teams and ensure on-time delivery within budget.
• Collaborate with BD by providing technical input in client meetings.
• Produce and review reports, bid documents, and construction docs.
