Job summary

Rimkus is seeking a highly experienced Principal Structural Engineer to join our South Florida team. You will evaluate existing buildings, develop innovative repair strategies, and lead diverse projects across residential, multi-family, and commercial structures with a focus on fire, wind, flood, and impact scenarios.

You will manage teams, ensure QA/QC, and mentor junior engineers while collaborating with clients and Business Development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is required; Structural Engineer (SE) preferred.
• 15+ years of structural design experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; BIM experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare as-built drawings for existing structures.
• Perform structural evaluations of existing and damaged buildings.
• Develop drawings and specifications in line with building codes and industry standards.
• Research historical and current building codes and identify upgrades.
• Conduct field assessments at ladders, lifts, rooftops, and confined spaces.
• Investigate structural conditions and determine repair strategies.
• Complete design work for upgrades, maintenance, and restoration of structures.
• Lead project teams and ensure delivery within scope, schedule, and budget.
• Collaborate with Business Development and participate in client meetings.
• Produce and review technical deliverables including reports and construction documents.
