Job summary

Constellation is seeking a highly technical Principal Software Engineer to lead architecture, design, development, and modernization of enterprise software supporting power generation and digital transformation initiatives.

This hands-on role serves as the top technical expert for application design, partnering with stakeholders, architects, cybersecurity, and other engineering leaders to drive standards and modernization across portfolios.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or a Technical Program with 8 years of experience, or 12 years of equivalent experience in lieu of the degree.
• 8-years of experience in area of technical specialty; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• 3-years architecting distributed systems.
• Experience with migrating workloads from onprem to cloud such as GCP.
• 10-years IT application production support experience supporting multiple applications across portfolios in an operational environment servicing an enterprise level user base.
• 10-years software design and development experience with backend and database services such as SQL or NoSQL databases Oracle, SQL Server, Cosmos DB, MySQL, Redis, Splunk.
• 9-years relevant hands-on experience in object programming languages such as: Python, Perl, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, NodeJS, .NET, HTML, AngularJS, iOS Swift and/or Objective, Android Mobile, Xamarin, or Python.

Responsibilities

• Drive multiple projects through to delivery, removing obstacles as needed to ensure success.
• Provide Technology Production support for multiple high Business value applications in an operational capacity across Portfolios.
• Develop architecture and design of large-scale distributed software services and solutions.
• Drive improvements to software engineering practices.
• Prioritize technology investments to balance short- and long-term goals.
• Collaborate with teams across Constellation to achieve goals, promote collaboration across teams for code reuse and knowledge sharing and mentor and develop others.
• Keep up to date with industry trends and apply projects as appropriate. Identify investments needed to improve business/customer/partner experience through a data driven approach.
• Provide coaching/ mentorship for IT personnel. Participate in career development and recognition activities. Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion and foster teamwork, collaboration, and a learning organization.
• Cloud expansion including Azure, Appian (AWS), etc.
• Architecting integrations for Generation portfolio applications including considerations for advancing Artificial Intelligence adoption
• Managing high-availability environments and regulated operational environments
