Our Land Use Planning and Entitlements Team in Los Angeles has an opportunity for a talented and experienced Principal Planner to support the Los Angeles County Department of Regional Planning. About being our Principal Planner

In response to the Eaton and Palisades Fires, which damaged over 18,000 structures, the Department of Regional Planning redirected staff to support disaster recovery. Psomas was engaged as a consultant to assist in maintaining project planning operations, including processing applications, counseling the public virtually and in person, and other planning functions during recovery.

Responsibility Highlights

• Processing development project applications and managing cases
• Providing customer service via phone, email, mail, and in person at various Field Offices
• Tracking application status using data management tools
• Coordinating with other departments and workgroups
• Training and guiding subordinate staff
• Attending and presenting at public hearings before various boards and commissions

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in City/Urban Planning or related field from an accredited institution
• At least 5 years of professional planning experience with a city or county agency
• Ability to work remotely without in-person oversight
• Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and locations
• Ability to communicate land use concepts in Spanish is a plus
