Job summary

Rimkus, a leader in Built Environment Solutions, seeks a highly experienced Principal Mechanical Engineering Consultant for our New York team. You will apply technical leadership to design, install, troubleshoot, and commission mechanical systems for HVAC, ventilation, and controls on complex projects for owners, developers, and architects.

You’ll guide cross-disciplinary teams, manage design development and construction documents, perform on-site surveys, ensure code compliance, and cultivate

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering or related field; PE license required.
• Minimum 15 years of design, assessment, and/or construction experience in the built environment.
• Professional demeanor with strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).

Responsibilities

• Lead design, installation, troubleshooting, and commissioning of mechanical systems for HVAC and controls.
• Develop conceptual designs, schematic layouts, and construction documents.
• Coordinate design development and deliverables across multiple delivery models.
• Conduct on-site condition surveys and translate findings into actionable designs.
• Maintain code compliance and industry standards across projects.
• Mentor junior staff and lead cross-disciplinary teams.
• Foster strong client relationships and pursue new business opportunities.
