Job summary

Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer for onsite work in Fort Wayne, IN. The role focuses on designing mechanical hardware for aerospace/electronic systems, with emphasis on CREO CAD, GD&T, and rigorous analysis.

You will work in a small team, collaborate with multiple disciplines, and manage cost/schedule requirements while maintaining RTX processes and security requirements. U.S. citizenship and security clearance eligibility are required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) required.
• 8+ years of relevant experience or 5+ years with advanced degree.
• Proficiency with CREO/ProEngineer or similar CAD tool.
• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Design, document, implement, integrate, and test mechanical hardware for system design.
• Solve complex technical problems with ingenuity and sound technical judgment.
• Conduct thermal and structural analysis using hand calculations and industry tools.
• Participate in peer reviews, technical meetings, and program reviews.
• Support testing, subcontractors, and the factory.
• Ensure engineering best practices and RTX processes are followed.
• Manage product development tasks within cost and schedule constraints.
• Collaborate with Program Management, Systems Engineering, Supply Chain, and customers.
