Job summary

Capital One is seeking an Insurance Risk - Principal Associate (Remote-Eligible) to review loan docs, analyze insurance certificates, and ensure compliance with investor guidelines across commercial risk.

You will partner with internal teams and external stakeholders, manage force-placed insurance, and contribute to process improvements, with a strong emphasis on risk assessment and clear, concise justification for waivers and approvals.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification.
• At least 5 years in the insurance industry focusing on commercial risk, underwriting, or compliance.
• Bachelor’s Degree and/or Military experience; 2+ years with Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac Multifamily Loans; ARM/CPCU/CRM certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review loan documents and investor guidelines to identify insurance requirements.
• Analyze insurance certificates, binders, full policies, and endorsements for accuracy.
• Evaluate deficiencies and draft justifications for investor approval.
• Maintain knowledge of core coverages and articulate their necessity.
• Collaborate with borrowers, agents, and external stakeholders to guide insurance matters.
• Manage force-placed insurance processes and participate in audits.
• Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve controls.
