Job summary

Raytheon Space and Air division in El Segundo, CA seeks a Principal Software Engineer [Embedded / Radar] to own the Tactical Software Operational Flight Program for APG-82(V)1/APG-82(V)x and lead the Tactical Software team. This onsite role requires strong leadership, embedded software expertise, and DoD experience.

Responsibilities include architecture, team mentorship, sprint planning, and cross-functional collaboration with customers and engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.
• Experience in embedded APG-82(V)1 software development and coding in C/C++/ADA for APG-82(V)1 Tactical Radar Software.
• Experience working on Linux, Windows, VxWorks, RTSecure, and Integrity.
• Experience working in an agile/scrum team environment using typical agile tool suites.
• Experience with design, code, integration and test of software into a large baseline and system.
• Experience in defense contracting environments and customer meetings.
• Active and transferable U.S. Government issued Secret security clearance is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide architectural vision and technical design guidance for the Operational Flight Software.
• Serve as the primary owner of the Tactical Operational Flight Software.
• Lead and mentor a team of experienced and junior engineers.
• Deliver clear technical direction, guidance, and prioritization for tasks.
• Plan, prioritize, and manage backlog items with cross-discipline teams.
• Lead design and development for software to support OMS GRA capabilities.
• Discuss OFP technical details, long-term vision, and strategic direction.
• Investigate and troubleshoot issues to develop effective solutions.
• Contribute to program meetings, reviews, and status discussions.
• Support technical decision-making and problem resolution with leadership.
• Help ensure adherence to technical, cost, schedule and quality objectives.
• Contribute to program milestones and customer deliverables.
• Work Location: Onsite at El Segundo, CA Campus.
