Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems in San Diego, CA or El Segundo, CA seeks a Principal Software Engineer - DevSecOps to modernize software production across programs. This on-site role requires travel up to 25% and offers exposure to cutting-edge tech.

The ideal candidate will lead a large software factory, automate CI/CD pipelines, and collaborate with IPTs, chief engineers, and teams in a fast-paced environment demanding ownership and communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline and 1 year of related engineering experience.
• Experience with micro services including scalability best practices, containers, and container orchestration using Docker or Kubernetes
• Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills
• Experience with a variety of DevOps tools such as Ansible, Ant, Bamboo, Chef, GitLab, Jenkins, Maven, etc.
• Experience using Agile methodologies in programs with multiple teams
• Experience with software development (Java/Javascript, C++, C# or any modern object-oriented language) and its life cycle
• Ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret clearance (with a background investigation within the past 5 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)
• Ability to obtain and maintain initial Special Access Program (SAP) access via a Program Access Request (PAR). This SAP/PAR must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs. Initial PAR is not required to onboard.
• Ability to obtain and maintain subsequent SAP PARs following commencement of employment to be able to completely support statement of work.

• Integrate and automate systems to facilitate continuous build, continuous integration, continuous test, and continuous deployment pipeline
• Strong communication skills is a must to work with Software IPT, chief engineers, and development team
• The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings across all levels.
