Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal Engineering Design professional in Annapolis, MD to advance model-based definition using NX and Teamcenter. The role emphasizes development of MBEP packages and robust component layouts within a multi-discipline team.

The successful candidate will leverage CAD/PLM skills, GD&T, and release procedures to ensure manufacturability and configuration integrity of complex systems, while supporting program objectives and security requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant STEM field with 5+ years of relevant experience; or MS degree with 3 years of relevant experience.
• 3 years experience with 3D CAD modeling tools and releasing engineering models/drawings.
• Experience with model-based engineering Digital Product Definition Packages and CAD managed in a PLM system.

Responsibilities

• Designs major components or major portions of a functional system to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations.
• Develops basic data and makes preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes to present design proposals.
• Investigates design factors such as manufacturability, materials, interchangeability, strength-weight, and contractual requirements.
• Coordinates with other organizations affected by design development.
• Makes layouts of complex assemblies and details parts of devices, mechanisms, and structures.
• Identifies design errors or deficiencies and recommends revisions to responsible engineers.
