Job summary

JPMorganChase seeks a Principal Architect in Infrastructure Platforms to drive the design and adoption of cloud-based reliability tooling across a large enterprise. You will partner with Site Reliability Engineers, developers, and senior leaders to shape patterns, guardrails, and scalable frameworks that improve resiliency and software delivery outcomes.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on architecture concepts and 10+ years applied experience.
• Experience in software architecture, application architecture, platform architecture, Site Reliability Engineering, or comparable technical leadership roles within large-scale enterprise environments.
• Hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability for distributed systems and production applications.
• Expertise in one or more programming languages and modern software engineering practices.
• Deep knowledge of cloud-native technologies, distributed systems, and enterprise platforms.

Responsibilities

• Advise cross-functional teams on technology selection, architectural decisions, and reliability strategies to achieve target-state architecture and improve operational resilience.
• Define the architectural direction, integration standards, and non-functional requirements for observability, incident management, resiliency testing, and operational readiness.
• Establish reusable enterprise patterns for service onboarding, SLIs/SLOs, error budgets, dashboards, runbooks, and production-readiness baseline.
• Guide engineering teams in embedding reliability capabilities throughout the software delivery lifecycle and support rollout through pilots and onboarding guidance.
• Create scalable architectural frameworks and partner with engineering teams to design APIs, automation workflows, and shared reliability services.
• Develop secure production code and review others' code to ensure alignment with architecture, resiliency, security, and governance standards.
• Evaluate tooling and architecture solutions; promote reuse-first approaches and enterprise guardrails.
• Develop multi-year roadmaps aligned with business priorities and reliability objectives; use data to drive improvements in patterns and tooling roadmap.
• Apply AI capabilities within architecture and engineering workflows with human-in-the-loop validation.
• Serve as subject matter expert for reliability architecture and contribute to governance models and AI-enabled patterns.
• Communicate trade-offs and investment needs to engineers, product leaders, and executives; coach teams on reliability patterns.
