Job summary

Hims & Hers is seeking a Principal Data Engineer to set the technical direction for data across our health and wellness platform. This senior IC role will own platform architecture, streaming strategy, and data contracts across analytics, data science, and production teams.

You will drive end-to-end design decisions, maintain data quality guarantees, and manage the platform's cost model while remaining hands-on in code reviews and incident response.

Qualifications

15+ years building and owning data platform architecture.
Experience defining edges of architectural authority across multiple teams.
Deep GCP and BigQuery expertise with AWS operational fluency.

Responsibilities

Define the multi-year platform architecture for ingestion, streaming, orchestration, and serving as a single system.
Own the streaming strategy across analytics and production use cases.
Define data contracts, interfaces, and boundaries between teams.
Set data quality, freshness guarantees, and governance standards.
Own platform economics and cost models at scale.
Remain hands-on, reviewing production code and guiding platform-level incident response.
