Job summary

Procore is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead long-term backend and AI service strategy for data applications and platform capabilities. You will shape architectural standards, drive platform evolution, and embed AI into products and internal platforms with security and cost discipline.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong foundation in object oriented programming and scalable design.
• Proven experience with large-scale data platforms and data-driven apps.
• Deep expertise in REST and GraphQL APIs at scale.
• Hands-on experience with distributed data processing (e.g., Spark, Kafka).
• Practical experience with LLM integration and AI patterns.

Responsibilities

• Define architectural direction for backend, data, and AI domains.
• Translate business priorities into scalable backend/AI architectures.
• Evolve data platforms, streaming systems, and API surfaces.
• Establish durable data modeling standards across domains.
• Lead design of production-grade AI systems and RAG pipelines.
• Mentor engineers and raise standards across the org.
