Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) seeks a Cloud Computing Engineer Principal to lead Azure cloud modernization for VA healthcare programs. This remote, full-time role demands deep Azure design, security, IaC, and DevOps expertise to build scalable, compliant cloud solutions.

You will mentor engineers, manage multi‑subscription environments, implement CI/CD and monitoring, and ensure HIPAA, FedRAMP, NIST, GDPR, and PCI DSS alignment. U.S.

Qualifications

• Azure architecture design, deployment and management.
• Experience with large-scale, highly available cloud systems.
• Proficiency in Azure core services and security practices.
• Familiar with IaC and automation tooling.
• Strong communication and mentoring abilities.

Responsibilities

• Create cloud diagrams and high‑level architecture for cloud infrastructure, applications and systems.
• Design, develop, deploy, and operate automation for CI/CD pipelines.
• Manage permissions in cloud providers for each app and service.
• Implement monitoring for cloud architecture and hosted systems for performance and compliance.
• Provide cloud support for VAEC environments and related services.
• Ensure VAEC Azure GovCloud alignment with VIP development, release and docs.
• Adopt DevOps mindset with CI/CD tooling and practices.
• Document cloud security controls and provider documentation.
• Design VAEC/cloud-hosted solutions and address readiness gaps.
