Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Principal Cloud Computing Engineer for the VA project. This 100% remote, full‑time role focuses on designing and operating Azure‑based cloud infrastructure, CI/CD automation, and scalable, compliant cloud services across VA environments.

You will lead cloud modernization initiatives, mentor engineers, implement security controls, and ensure alignment with HIPAA, FedRAMP, NIST, GDPR, and PCI DSS guidelines while coordinating with cross‑functional teams.

Qualifications

• Proven Azure infrastructure design, deployment, and management experience.
• Experience with high-availability, scalable cloud architectures.
• Strong knowledge of Azure core services and security practices.
• Proficiency in scripting for automation and cloud operations.

Responsibilities

• Create data flow, cloud, and transition diagrams for cloud infra and apps.
• Design, develop, deploy, and operate CI/CD automation technologies.
• Manage permissions in cloud services and hosted resources.
• Implement monitoring for cloud architecture to meet VA policies.
• Provide cloud support for VA Enterprise Cloud environments and VIP docs.
