Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) seeks a Cloud Computing Engineer Principal to lead Azure cloud architecture for healthcare systems. You will design, deploy, and operate CI/CD automation, secure access, and monitoring across VAEC environments while ensuring HIPAA, FedRAMP, and NIST compliance.

A strong DevOps mindset and leadership skills are essential. The role supports 100% remote work with national scope in the United States, reporting to the VA department.

Qualifications

• Proven Azure infrastructure design, deployment, and management experience.
• Experience with large-scale, high-availability cloud architecture.
• Strong knowledge of core Azure services and security practices.
• Proficiency in scripting (Python, PowerShell, Bash, or JS/NodeJS).
• Experience with IaC tools and monitoring/observability stacks.
• Familiarity with HIPAA, FedRAMP, NIST, GDPR, and PCI DSS.
• Experience leading cloud modernization and cross-functional collaboration.
• Ability to design secure, compliant, scalable cloud solutions.

Responsibilities

• Create cloud diagrams and high-level architecture for Azure environments.
• Develop and operate CI/CD automation for VAEC deployments.
• Manage permissions and access for cloud applications and data.
• Implement monitoring and ensure compliance with VA and federal policies.
• Provide Cloud security provider documentation and governance guidance.
• Design VAEC/cloud-hosted solutions and address readiness gaps.
• Mentor engineers and lead cross-functional cloud modernization projects.
• On-call support and incident response as needed.
