Job summary

Salesforce is seeking a Principal Solutions Engineer to join the COE, collaborating with Solutions Engineering to close gaps between Tableau capabilities and field needs. Qualifications

• Several years of hands-on solutions engineering, sales engineering, or technical pre-sales experience, ideally with analytics, BI, or data platforms.
• Deep, current expertise in Tableau Cloud and Tableau Desktop; able to articulate platform capabilities and limits as a genuine product SME.
• Ability to build a working technical prototype independently, including using AI-assisted coding tools.
• Experience partnering with a field or sales organization to translate feedback into product action.
• Comfort with a fast-paced environment and shipping in 90 days rather than delaying for a year.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Solutions Engineers in the field to understand customer needs and drive adoption of built solutions.
• Build prototypes ahead of GA using AI-assisted coding tools to demonstrate capability gaps to the product org.
• Engage directly with strategic and executive customers to validate prototypes and positioning.
• Develop and maintain technical assets—competitive materials, talk tracks, demos—kept current as the landscape shifts.
• Experiment with new AI capabilities and bring back scalable solutions to the field.
