Job summary

McKinstry in Chicago, IL is seeking a Project Engineer - Prime MEP to support project management through documentation, procurement, and coordination with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams.

You will help organize job setup, procurement, RFIs, submittals, safety planning, and monthly financial reporting while ensuring schedules, scope, and quality align with contract documents.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, contracts, proposals, estimates, and related documents.
• Strong organizational and coordination skills across multiple stakeholders.
• Understanding of procurement processes and contract management.

Responsibilities

• Support RFP and procurement processes and track current and future jobs.
• Review contracts, drawings, specifications to support project delivery.
• Coordinate equipment/materials procurement and subcontractor scope development.
• Assist in job setup, mobilization, administration and closeout, and monthly financial reporting.
• Communicate with architects, engineers, owners and subcontractors to assist the Project Manager.
• Coordinate field activities for self-performed and subcontracted work.

Education

BA/BS in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architecture, Facilities Management, or comparable degree
