Job summary

McKinstry in Chicago, IL is seeking a Senior Project Engineer - Prime MEP to lead complex projects from initiation to closeout. You will coordinate with clients, trades, and vendors, manage costs, schedules, and documentation, and ensure safety and quality standards are met.

The role requires a construction management or engineering degree, 2+ years of project engineering experience, and knowledge of financial performance; PE and LEED are preferred.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architecture, Facilities Management, or comparable degree.
• 2 years of Project Engineer experience or equivalent.
• Knowledge of construction management, commercial building process, and financial acumen.
• Professional Engineer (PE) and LEED designations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the on-site point of contact for clients, subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel.
• Support RFP processes and coordinate equipment procurement with purchasing and outside vendors.
• Oversee scheduling and coordination of trades and assist with project controls and cost tracking.
• Maintain drawings, RFI logs, submittal logs, and prepare operation manuals.
