Job summary

McKinstry in Chicago, IL is seeking a Senior Project Engineer - Prime MEP to lead complex Prime MEP projects from initiation through closeout. You will manage fiscal outcomes, ensure technical quality, and coordinate with clients, subcontractors, and field teams on site.

Requirements include a related BA/BS, 2 years in a Project Engineer role, and knowledge of construction management and financial acumen. PE and LEED are preferred. This is an on-site, full-time role with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architecture, Facilities Management or comparable degree.
• 2 years of Project Engineer role equivalent required.
• Knowledge of construction management, commercial building process, and financial acumen required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) and LEED designations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the on-site point of contact for clients, subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel as needed.
• Support Request for Proposal (RFP) processes and develop scope of work for subcontractors.
• Coordinate equipment procurement with the purchasing department and outside vendors.
• Oversee scheduling and coordination of trades.
• Assist with project controls, including reviewing subcontractor billings, drafting subcontract and purchasing agreements, and assisting with client billings.
• Prepare monthly project accounting reviews and manage cost issue logs.
